Praktiker Hellas has become the latest do-it-yourself and home improvement retailer to open a new branch in Greece, inaugurating its 16th store on Thursday.
Located in Anthousa, north east Athens, the store cost four million euros and is part of a broader push by the company to expand in Greece in the next few years.
Last week, rival Leroy Merlin opened a new branch in the Greek capital as part of its decision to grow ahead of an expected economic recovery in the country.
Praktiker Hellas began operations in Greece in 1999.
"We are planning the next steps in a steady and dynamic way, targeting a seventh store in Attica, the second in Thessaloniki and two more on the islands until 2020. We believe that growth is a part of any successful company and its people, and we are putting all our efforts in this direction," said Praktiker Hellas general manager Ioannnis Selalmazides.
