TAP pipeline ready in 2020, Russia eyes supply
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), crossing northern Greece from Turkey to Albania, will be ready in 2020, according to TAP country manager for Greece Ricard Scoufias.
Speaking at the Athens Energy Forum 2017 earlier this week, Scoufias said that construction of the 1.5 billion euro project is in full swing and that work has started on 200 kilometers of pipeline between Alexandroupoli and Thessaloniki..
Russia has shown an interest in supplying the pipeline despite opposition from American interests that see such a move as giving Moscow too much control in the European energy market,
Ulrike Andres, commercial and external affairs director at TAP, said that Gazprom, Europe’s largest gas supplier, has shown an interested in supplying the pipeline.
