Construction of Kasteli airport, Crete, nudges ahead

The tender process for the construction of the Kasteli airport in Crete has moved to the second stage, according to Greece's Infrastructure and Transport Ministry.

The only bidder for the tender, which includes the management of the airport on Greece's largest island, is a joint venture between Greek construction company Terna and India's GMR.

The Indian company, which owns the Delhi international airport, has a small stake in the joint venture, about 10%, but is expected to play a leading role in the management of the Kasteli airport.
