Home owners to get boost to upgrade energy efficiency
Greece is likely to launch next month a 400 million euro government funding program to help property owners improve their home's energy performance, according to a Greek government official.
The program, which has been running in cycles for several years, will provide some 40,000 households across Greece with financial assistance to improve insulation facilities, install solar powered heating systems and replace old door and window fittings with energy friendly models.
Those that qualify for the assistance can receive an interest free loan of up to 25,000 euros from one of the Greece's banks and a subsidy for expenses incurred, the official added.
The levels of assistance provided by the government program depend on the applicant's income levels.
