Piraeus port expanding; plans hotels, restaurants
The port of Piraeus (OLP), majority owned by China's Cosco, will provide an array of hospitality services to visitors in order to encourage them to extend their stay in the Greek capital, the company said Tuesday.
Theodora Riga, strategic planning and marketing manager at Piraeus Port Authority, told a conference in Athens that OLP's future plans include the construction of hotels, restaurants and shopping malls on its southern port. No further information was provided.
Cosco has launched an ambitious investment program for OLP, that includes upgrading container management and tourism services, in a bid to make it one of the biggest ports in the region.
