Live in Glyfada? Unexpected tax cut coming your way
The municipality of Glyfada, a beachside area in southern Athens, will reduce the local council tax by 10% as of next year, according to mayor Giorgos Papanikolaou.
The tax, lumped with electricity bills and collected by the power company, will be also cut by 50% for families with 3 children, said the mayor in an article he wrote and posted on insider.gr.
Better housekeeping that included improved revenue collections and cuts to expenses have helped the council boost cash reserves to 22.5 million euros, from 13.6 million euros three years ago, added Papanikolaou.
