Household income levels rise for first time in 7 years

The amount of income earned by households in Greece inched higher in the second quarter of the year, rising for the first time in seven years, according to data released Friday.

Figures from the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed that household income edged 0.2% higher in the April to June period, reaching 29.3 billion euros. The last time there was an annual increase in this figure was in 2009.

Plunging income levels amidst Greece's debt crisis and ongoing austerity have resulted in plunging consumption and record low investment in housing.
