Bids on top home in Greece start at 35 mln euros

Touted as the most expensive home in Greece by the local media, a six storey building in central Athens is being auctioned later this month with a starting price of 35 million euros.

Located on Vasileos Georgiou street, the six storey building is next door to the office of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and a few doors down from president Prokopis Pavlopoulos. The area is behind parliament building and is previously where Greece's royalty lived.

The auction result is seen by some in the real estate business as being an important indicator of demand in the market for top end assets.

The home is being sold by a Greek bank due to an unpaid loan to a Greek businessman. It is being sold fully furnished and offers a heated pool, two basements and views of the Acropolis. The auction will be held at the Athens County court November 22.
