Piraeus port climbs one place to 7th in Europe
The port of Piraeus, the country's largest, was Europe's seventh largest port in 2017, climbing one place from the previous year, according to data compiled by Port Economics.
The ranking is based on the container traffic managed by each port.
Piraeus has risen sharply among Europe's top ports after China's Cosco took over the management of one of its container terminals in 2009. Since then Cosco has tightened its grip on the port, acquiring two thirds of the company.
In 2007, Piraeus was ranked outside of Europe's top 15 ports.
