15 pct of property owners to pay more Enfia tax-minister
Two thirds of property owners in Greece will be unaffected by revisions to the Enfia property tax currently being finalised, while 15 percent will be hit with a heftier bill, according to Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos.
The revision process involves changes being made to the property values used by Greek authorities to determine 21 real estate taxes, with the biggest one being the Enfia levy.
For the last few months, the Finance Ministry has been updating these property values, bringing them closer to market figures, with the help of external valuers.
Speaking in parliament on Tuesday, Tsakalotos said that 18 percent of property owners will see a drop in their Enfia tax bill. The Finance Ministry is likely to start sending out notifications for payment of Enfia to taxpayers within the month.
