Room for one more major international airport in Greece, says minister
There is room in Greece for the construction of at least one more key international airport, like that in Thessaloniki or Heraklion, according to Transport Minister Christos Spirtzis.
He said that Greece has already started working in this, without providing any more details. Speaking at an conference on Friday, he also said that there is room for the upgrade of at least six to seven airports across the country.
Greece has 22 international airports, according to the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE), with the main ones being in Athens, Heraklion, Rhodes, Thessaloniki, Corfu and Kos.
