Briq boosts investments in central Athens with 2.6 mln euro deal

Real estate investment company (REIC) Briq is boosting investments in central Athens, signing a deal to purchase a building in the main commercial district for 6.5 million euros.

The seven storey mixed use building is located at 76 Aiolou street, and provides retail and office space covering a total of 2,854 square meters. The building was fully renovated in 2009 and is fully leased, the company said in a statement.

Briq, majority owned by IT group Infoquest, owns 16 properties that have a market value of 43 million euros. The company has doubled the size of its portfolio in the last few years as recovering real estate prices prompt REICS in Greece to snap up commercial assets, such as office buildings and hotels.

Briq also said that it purchased a land plot covering 518 square meters in the area of "Agios Georgios", on the island of Paros, for 260,000 euros. The property is located next to the "Mr & Mrs White Paros" hotel which is also owned by Briq and is used as a parking lot.
