Arab investor snaps up Onassis villa for 12 mln euros
An Arab investor has snapped up a villa in Lagonisi, south east of Athens, formerly belonging to Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis for 12 million euros, according to Greek press reports.
The luxury home, a hotspot for international celebrities and the elite in the Onassis era, had been on the market for several years before being sold. The villa had been passed onto another Greek shipper in recent years who had completed renovations work on the property, spending several millions of euros.
The initial price has been set at around 15 million euros, press reports say.
It covers 1,000 sq.m. of living space, on a block of land stretching over 2.2 acres, and includes a swimming pool, an artificial lake, a gym, and hammam.
Lagonisi is located close to Sounio and forms part of the Athens Riviera, a coastal stretch dotted with prime real estate and popular with foreign buyers taking advantage of Greece's Golden Visa.
