Rents rise in Greece in Q1 (Breakdown of prices across country)
The price of renting a home in Greece edged 0.5 percent higher in the first quarter of the year as the market shows signs of recovery from the pandemic, according to data collected by spitogatos.gr.
Figures show that the performance of the home rental market varies, depending on each area.
The cost of leasing an apartment in central Athens, in areas such as Acropolis and Koukaki, dropped by an annual rate of 6.1 percent to 8.86 euros per sq/m but in suburbs surrounding the port of Piraeus jumped by 10.8 percent 6.67 euros per sq/m.
With the Greek economy poised for a recovery in the second half of the year, many expect the country's real estate market to rebound in coming months but ongoing uncertainty from the pandemic continues to weigh on prices.
